Quick List: Swears & Curses
Lists    December 10, 2016     Eric Larkin

Another in our series of Quick Lists, based on our Instagram feed.

These books have various swear words in their titles: mostly “fuck” and “shit”, but also “ass”.  Do not read this post aloud to your children, unless you are old enough that your children are motherfucking adults or your toddler swears.

F*ck Feelings from Dr Michael Bennett and Sarah Bennett – This is the self help book that will expose all the other self help books you own for the imposters they are. Blunt (obviously) and practical, this stands you on your feet and points in a direction you can actually walk.

swearsshit

Do Cool Sh*t by Miki Agrawal – How to cut your own path thru the world with that really awesome business idea you have, cuz “you are a badass”.

You are a Badass by Jen Sincero is one of those kick-you-in-the-ass so you go out and “do cool shit” kinda books.  (Also wrote Don’t Sleep With Your Drummer.)

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson – YES. This one is about examining yourself and your life honestly, and blows to hell all that “Your attitude determines your altitude” garbáge. It’s not about not caring, it’s about not caring about bullshit.

The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck: How to Stop Spending Time You Don’t Have with People You Don’t Like Doing Things You Don’t Want to Do by Sarah Knight is a bit more focused on decluttering your involvements and mental attachments.

A few more fuck and shit books:

swearsgood

Good Manners for Nice People Who Sometimes Say Fuck by Amy Alkon is an update on polite behavior manuals that moves way beyond “when the hell would I need this?” information (eg – which fork goes where) to everyday situations like how to stop folks who let their dogs shit on your lawn (not the dog’s fault, of course) or the best ways to interact with loved ones who are so fucked up health-wise that they might die. This is genuinely useful guidance.

swearswear

How to Swear Around the World by Jay Sacher and Toby Triumph is about saying fuck and shit in different languages. Fun!

swearsthug

Thug Kitchen: The Official Cookbook: Eat Like You Give a Fuck – Yeah, from the website – Healthy, practical, and fucking tasty – we swears it.
